“Beast” from “Beauty and the Beast”. This wig is hand dreaded, with felted wools and braided/ twisted yarns sewn in to give texture and interest. I modified the horns from an Arlene’s accessory kit, cut them down to size and gave them a new paint job. The wig cap is rigged with wig clips at key points for easy removal during the transformation.

A close up of actor Emma Stephenson in her wig in "Anything to Declare". While this is a hard front wig, it is actually secured half an inch behind the actor’s hairline. The front of her hair is styled back into the wig, giving the whole thing a natural look.

“Wogglebug” from “Marvelous Oz”, Lace front wig with antennae emerging from both structural victory rolls. “Glinda” wig in the background was styled by Kim Berry.

The finished Bianca wig from "Taming of the Shrew". The character is supposed to be the perfect angelic ideal- the exact opposite of Kate.

Actor Emily Putnam as “Bianca” in "Taming of the Shrew". Wig clips placed around the hairline keep the wig from sliding as the actor summersaults and “clowns around” during the show.

Kate’s finished wig is a dark messy mane. Curly and in some places on the verge of dreaded, Kate is not nicely styled the way her mother and sister are. She has beads, braids, yarns, and silks woven through her hair.

Video of dyeing the Bianca wig blue. I started with a pure white wig, coated the lace and cap with Vaseline, and then used a mixture of ink and isopropyl alcohol to coat the synthetic hair. The alcohol evaporates and leaves the ink, permanently coloring the wig. I then rinsed the wig out with a strong cleaner until I had brought it up to the delicate light blue we wanted.
